Is Hemp Oil the same as CBD oil?

A farm bill was passed in 2018, allowing the manufacturing of industrial hemp legal in the United States. This has opened doors to the legalization of cannabis compound cannabidiol (CBD)— although you still need to check for legality in your area in your local legislation. While many customers consider CBD a novel product, hempseed oil has been around for decades. It is available in food stores and is used in cooking as well as skincare.

All CBD oil and hemp seed oil are common ingredients used in topical skin care products. For a fact, hempseed oil is proven not to clog pores, provide anti-inflammatory effects and provide excellent moisturization to maintain the skin looking and feeling supple. It can be added to a product or used as face oil on its own. New research around the skin-related effects of CBD is coming out all the time. What we learn so far is that it is a strong anti-inflammatory product, just like its hempseed counterpart.

The difference

Hemp oil is actually not similarto cannabidiol (CBD) oil. CBD oil processing utilizes the hemp plant’s stalks, leaves, and seeds, which have a higher concentration of CBD, another potentially beneficial compound within the plant.

Hemp seed oil comes from tiny Cannabis sativa plant seeds. The seeds do not have the same compound amounts as the plant itself, but they still have a rich nutrient profile, fatty acids and valuable bioactive compounds. Full-spectrum hemp oil which also includes plant matter that includes certain beneficial compounds that may help with specific health problems, such as inflammation.

Another explanation is that consumers are willing to pay more for CBD oil than hempseed oil, which is a pretty expensive product. It’s simple for a manufacturer to add hemp seed oil to a product decorate it with marijuana leaves, and highlight the term cannabinoid to make consumers believe they’re purchasing a CBD product when it doesn’t have any real CBD. Many manufacturers may also advertise their goods as hempseed to circumvent the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations on items originating from cannabis or marijuana.

Although manufacturers aren’t allowed to mention the CBD or hemp milligrams on the container, doing so is becoming a common practice. If they are not mentioned, you can ask yourself what you are paying for in that bottle. The FDA has sent warning letters to some companies for selling CBD products illegally and for misrepresenting them as safe or effective medical treatments. This is yet another reason why it is vital to do your own consumer research. This is deemed unethical and does not help consumers differentiate between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil.

The difference in the extraction of CBD and Hempseed Oil

CBD oil comes from a variety of mature hemp plant parts including its stalks and flowers. They must be separated in a process known as extraction to obtain CBD and other compounds from the plant.

Most reputable producers use the extraction of ethanol or the process of extraction of CO2 since neither involves the use of any toxic compounds. The good parts of the hemp plant are usually pelletized during extraction, and a solvent such as ethanol or gasses such as CO2 is then used to extract CBD and other vital nutrients. The product is oil, which has a high content of CBD.

On the other side, hemp oil also referred to as hemp seed oil, is made only from hemp seeds, and is extracted through a process called cold pressing. This is comparable to other carrier oils such as sunflower seed oil, or jojoba oil. This approach is used to help preserve all the seed’s fresh, healthy material.

For their content, the hemp seeds, which contain up to 50 percent of their weight in oil, are de-shelled, chilled and squeezed. The product is green in color and is unrefined. The primary difference between hemp oil and CBD oil? Hemp seed oil is generally made from industrial hemp plant seeds and includes no CBDs or other cannabinoids such as THC.

In summary, when discussing if hemp oil is the same as CBD oil, the simple truth is CBD oil comes from the actual plant whereas hemp oil comes from the seeds.

The difference in use b/w CBD and Hempseed Oil

CBD oil is primarily used in the natural or herbal massage to help balance the internal systems of the body, whereas hemp oil (now referred to as hemp seed oil) is mostly used in food and skincare goods.

CBD oil extracted from cannabis has high CBD content and low THC content (less than 0.3 percent). Which makes it great for harnessing CBD’s theoretically medicinal qualities without any of THC’s extreme or mind-altering effects.

Some proponents claim that a variety of chronic conditions such as anxiety and epilepsy can be beneficial. Although the latter may benefit from the FDA-approved medication Epidiolex, further clinical research is needed to validate the former.
On the other hand, hemp oil has become a hit in the kitchen, when derived from the plant’s seed. That is due to its high nutritional value. It has been on health food store shelves for quite some time and is known by many to be a superfood.

It can be used to be used as a nutritious supplement for olive oil in smoothies. Additionally, hemp oil is widely used in the cosmetics industry in its seed oil shape. It is a critical ingredient in items like shampoos, conditioners, lotions, soap because its fatty acid content helps strengthen our skin and retain moisture. Hemp Seed oil can also be used in some colors, fabrics, and lubricants.

When speaking in terms of Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil, Hemp oil research is still relatively new and have even facedrestrictive laws preventing researchers from fully exploring the potential of cannabis plants.

When CBD becomes more widely used in a growing number of areas, research can expand on the potential benefits of full-spectrum hemp oil. As a consequence, scientists could find additional evidence to support the plant’s potential benefits or even reveal new benefits. In any event, the prospect of hemp oil research is looking promising. When attempting to understand the distinctions between CBD oil and hemp oil, it is essential to remember that individual CBD companies are selling their goods like hemp oil.
